Analog Rework of a Hymn - Prophet 5 Plays Picardy

Held in Silence is a reinterpretation of the hymn Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence. Its melody, Picardy, is a French folk tune that dates back to the 17th century and was later arranged by Ralph Vaughan Williams in The English Hymnal (1906). The composition is arranged by for two analog synths, The Prophet 5 and Vermona Lancet Mono. Music for the upcoming short observational film Vanishing Points.

The analog polysynth Prophet 5 shapes the harmonic and tonal structure of the piece. Its polyphony allows for layered voicings that echo the choral roots of the hymn, expanded into a spacious analog sound field. Multiple patches were created for this arrangement, processed through an Eventide H90 for added spatial depth and modulation. The Vermona Lancet Mono grounds the low end with lightly filtered saw wave drones. Slowed down and reframed, the hymn becomes a meditative, filmic piece.
