In hun Amsterdamse werkplaats maken Ton en Christiaan klavecimbels, van boomstam tot instrument. Hun instrumenten reizen de hele wereld over. Na decennia van geduldig werken is hun ambacht een manier van leven geworden, gedragen door vriendschap en een gedeelde liefde voor de instrumenten, het repertoire en de wereld van de oude muziek. Maar nu de jaren gaan tellen en de stad steeds duurder wordt, komt dat leven onder druk te staan. Een intiem portret van vakmanschap, stil geluk en het verlangen iets te maken dat ons overleeft.

In their Amsterdam workshop, Ton and Christiaan make harpsichords, from tree trunk to finished instrument. Their instruments travel all over the world. After decades of patient work, their craft has become a way of life, sustained by friendship and a shared love of the instruments, the repertoire and the world of early music. But as they grow older and the city grows more expensive, preserving that life becomes increasingly difficult. An intimate portrait of craftsmanship, quiet fulfilment and the desire to create something that will outlast us.

Observational short films are an ongoing part of the work of Marc Driessen Films. They offer a space for quiet observation and cinematic exploration, with an intuitive approach to filmmaking that leaves room for spontaneity and an open perspective.
Cinematography, field recordings, and self produced film music form the core of the narrative style. The combination of visual stillness and layered sound invites a more attentive way of seeing and listening.
The work is free to unfold in its own rhythm, rooted in simplicity, curiosity, and a mindful presence. Rather than narrate or explain, the approach is to witness and let things unfold on their own terms. This creates space for resonance, stillness, and subtle shifts in perception. It is an ongoing study of the interior and its echoes in the world around us.
